Furnishings

We then set about furnishing it, well, those parts we could afford to, and I can remember going to Manchester for our dining room furniture where in Waring and Gillows we bought table and chairs of the stylish “G Plan”. It has in fact, served us well for we still have the table, which we brought with us to the USA and use it today as our “jig saw table” as the table is of a design that does not date. We got other things too, and as a present my father had the house decorated to my choice.

Our Pet

One other item I got and that was a cat. He was given me as a kitten by a friend at the bank, and he spent his first day with me in a box under my desk. He was black with white markings, full of character and curiosity and was to become part of our lives. I named him “Twopence”.

Wedding

Married, 1955

And, so having worked hard in getting all this together we were married at St Anthony of Padua Church on July 18th 1955. We spent our honeymoon at Perranporth in Cornwall and returned to married life together.

Land Girls Memoirs and Other Memoirs

In the two step process of creating a paper memoir and now converting it into a web based one, it is my hope that my memoir, Land Girl - The Happiest Years of Early Childhood joins other Land Girl memoirs as a member of that genre, and contributes to it.

My husband has his own memoir through the same process as mine, paper memoir first, then website GunnerFlann.com. He too hopes his memoir contributes to the National Service Memoirs genre.
